NEW YOGA / SKI / SNOWBOARD CAMP COMING TO SNOWBIRD
WILD MOUNTAIN YOGA BEGINS FEB. 27, 2005
SNOWBIRD, UTAH - The long-standing practice of incorporating yoga into
Snowbird's ski and snowboard camps becomes part of the curriculum in
2005 as the Utah resort welcomes Wild Mountain Yoga and its founders
Jo Kirsch and Bob Speck.
Wild Mountain Yoga at Snowbird sponsored by YOPATM yoga packs will
take place at Snowbird Feb. 27 through March 3, 2005 under the
direction of Kirsch, certified to teach yoga by Beryl Bender Birch,
author of best-selling books "Power Yoga" and "Beyond Power Yoga."
"There is nothing like the feeling of being in the mountains with
others, sharing experiences as we learn about ourselves - body, mind
and spirit - and exploring the joys of movement and the power of
yoga," said Kirsch, whose Wild Mountain Yoga is based in the Green
Mountains in Manchester Vermont.
Wild Mountain Yoga specializes in Ashtanga yoga, a practice that is
especially beneficial to skiers and snowboarders because it targets
core strength while increasing flexibility and correcting
imbalances. "This powerful form of yoga practice can help you have a
more powerful and inspirational skiing experience," said Kirsch.
Camp enrollees will begin their days with stretching and warm-up poses
then spend their days on the slopes with the staff of Snowbird's
professional Mountain School. Après-ski relaxation will include
post-exercise classes specifically designed to target the skiing and
riding body.
"Yoga and Snowbird's camps is nothing new," said Snowbird Mountain
School Director Maggie Loring, herself a frequent yoga
participant. "Many of the students in our Women's Camps have taken
yoga classes through the Cliff Spa. Now we're incorporating yoga into
the curriculum of the camp."
Wild Mountain Yoga sponsored by YOPA yoga packs includes four nights
lodging at the Cliff Lodge, Wild Mountain Yoga, Cliff Spa access, lift
tickets, four days of on-hill coaching, four breakfasts, four lunches,
